Now that we’re getting closer to the warmer months, there is no better time to re-decorate your home. With minimalistic tones, greenery, feature walls and rattan furniture all making a comeback, we’ve rounded up the best interior decorating trends, so that you can be ahead of the styling game this summer.

COLOUR CLASH.

According to colour psychology, adding colour to your home makes you happier – and what better time for a refresh than right now? We love the lightening effect that stark white, beige and pastel walls can give in your home. Add some pops of black, gold and marble to your home through unique furniture and décor pieces. Colour block art prints, pops of gold and chunky bookends are also great options for elevating your space.

ADD LOTS OF GREENERY.

Adding plants to an open space helps to breathe life into your room. From large pot plants to small succulents, greenery can add a nice touch to your kitchen, bedroom and living space. Our favourite plants are olive trees, monstera plants and devil’s ivy, as they are fabulous for first time gardeners.

RUSTIC IS IN.

From modern and sleek, the new season brings rustic and countryside elements to the forefront for spring and summer. If you’re looking to add a rustic, homely vibe to your space (which we love), look for faux fur, open pantries, wooden benches, white walls and some rattan furniture to nail the look.

EXPERIMENT WITH TEXTURE.

Playing with different embroideries, layers and textures help to add depth and style to a room. Incorporate coarse wallpapers, cushions, marble and mosaic – even a throw blanket can really make a room pop.

WHITE AND LIGHT.

Here’s a top tip for small rooms: adding in white décor helps make a smaller space seem bigger. Go for lighter and brighter with white walls and minimalistic furniture, including tan and beige colours to alleviate the room.

OPEN UP YOUR SPACE.

Make the most of a smaller space by using floating shelving and speciality designed furniture, again, in lighter colours. Floating bookshelves, cupboards, open butler’s pantries and patios help to promote an open, calming space this summer.

PLAY WITH WALLPAPER

If you can’t paint a wall, there are a great range of peel-off wallpapers available to transform your space. From splashbacks in your kitchen to full sized murals for your living room, the possibilities are endless with wallpaper. Plus, they are super adjustable – if you get sick of a pattern, you can simply change it up with a new one – they’re made for seasonal change and can really transform a drab room into something fabulous.
